Sneak peak of Baby Hine #2 :)
I had an ultrasound today to measure how big baby #2 is. He/she’s big. Real big. No surprise there!
I will share more about the appointment and my progress on my next post. For now I’m leaving you with this adorable profile of my womb baby (gender still in question).
I’m not sure if you can tell but that’s water my son is standing in. And those are new tennis shoes on his feet. He’s a quick little bugger! Those shoes were in the water before I had time to react!
Baby Names Gone Bad
Remember the name game we played when I was pregnant with Lleyton?
There are several (if not 100’s) of names that I will never be able to name my children because my last name is “Hine”. At first glance you might not think of “butt” when referring to my last name - however, when paired with these first names you really can’t help yourself.
Some of the names we have had to veto are:
Emma Hine - can be translated as “In my hine” or “In my butt” for those of you who need a literal example.
Sawyer Hine - this is an easy one….”Saw your Hine”. I can just imagine kids running around the playground at school yelling “saw your hine!” “saw your butt!” at my child.
Piper Hine - self explanatory “pipe her hine”. No thanks.
Phillip Hine - better known as “fill up hine”.
Harry Hine - do I need to explain this one?
Oliver Hine - “I love her hine” or “I love her butt”
Oh dear, as you can see we have to be very careful when choosing a name! If we pick the wrong one we could be solely responsible for unnecessary playground banter!
Everyone needs a good bit of pampering from time to time.
Wouldn’t you agree?
99% of the time I will not let people pamper me. I feel guilty having others go out of their way to make my life easier.
This weekend we are visiting with my parents in the mountains. My dad volunteered to wake up with Lleyton at his usual rousing time of 6:30am so I could get some extra sleep.
I slept until 11:00.
It was fabulous!
I haven’t slept that late until sometime long before Lleyton was born. Being a mother calls for several sacrifices - one of them being sleep.
My recommendation to you: If it’s been a while since you have slept waaaay past the sun rising….then find a babysitter, jump in bed and snooze the day away.
This and That
I’ve been keeping a mental record of quotes, sayings and conversations I have come across over the past few weeks so I could share them with you. There are so many times during my day when something happens and I think to myself, “I should put that on my blog!”
- David and I had dinner at Chili’s one night and the conversation we had with the hostess left me in a giggle. (I was only 20 weeks pregnant at the time and hardly had a baby bump!)
Hostess: “Would you prefer a booth or a table?”
David: “Booth…..oh wait, honey can you fit in a booth?”
Me: “YES I CAN FIT IN A BOOTH!!!! I’m not THAT big!”
- “A fool is someone who knows the difference between right and wrong – but chooses not to care.”
- While we were in the Bahamas we encountered a Bahamian man selling coconut rum drinks on the beach one afternoon. This was our conversation…
Bahamian Man: “Girl, what happened to you?” (Referring to my swollen pregnant belly)
Me: “I’m not sure.”
Bahamian Man: “Girl, you been havin da sex!”
*He proclaims this so loudly that anyone sitting in a sand chair
within 30 feet could hear. From that point forward every time I made
eye contact with someone I kept thinking that because of my pregnant
belly they would know that I had been “havin da sex!”
- “Hell is too HOT and eternity is too long to get this wrong.” (In
reference to believing in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and living a life
that honors God.)

Hey Everyone! Lleyton here.
Just letting you know that today I helped take mama’s broken laptop to the computer doctor. They are sending it off for repair. we should be up and running again in about two weeks! Until then, don’t miss me too much! Mama will blog as much as she can from her cell phone - technology these days!
Much Love, Big L
Hi, it’s me, typing away on a computer from the stone ages that took 15 minutes to turn on after I hit the power button. I’m happy to learn that a laptop built in the year 2002 can still operate in the year 2012. It’s slow and big and makes really loud noises but it’s the best I can do for now. I was happy to find it hiding in the basement amongst several of my college possessions. As I mentioned earlier this week, my laptop is no longer with us - she has passed on to laptop heaven to be with the other two laptops I have destroyed in my history (one by water, the other by blunt force trauma).
Are you anxious for an update?! Probably not as anxious as I am to type one out for you. My fingers are just itching to write!
UPDATE FROM THE WOMB 28 weeks
I did not pass my first round of glucose testing. The phone nurse would not tell me how bad I failed so I am unsure how serious it is. Since I didn’t pass the first round of testing I must now endure the second round. This consists of fasting for an evening/morning, drinking an awful sugary substance and having my blood drawn four times in a matter of three hours. Not exactly how I’d like to spend my Monday morning - but it has to be done so I shall endure it.
Baby Hine #2 is measuring big. Real big. So big that they are making me have an ultrasound in two weeks to determine whether or not I need to schedule a c-section. This bums me out. I was really hoping for a v-back delivery (v-back is doctor term for vaginal delivery after a cesarean). I have learned that since Lleyton was born via c-section it would be really dangerous for me to deliver a big baby - I could rupture my uterus endangering the baby and myself. How am I supposed to go against my doctors orders on that one!? But I really really really do NOT want another c-section. The pain medicine, the PAIN, the recovery time, the sleepiness, the feelings that I didn’t get to experience birthing my child…I’d like to skip all that and just have a vaginal delivery (I was trying to get by on this post without saying the word “vagina” - but there it is! Vagina - there it is again!). I’d like to leave this decision up to God - I’ve been praying about it but haven’t heard any feedback yet from the big man upstairs. In my opinion God knows waaaaay more than my silly doctors and if He says PUSH…this baby is coming via vagina!
The back pain and contractions I was having last week have subsided. I was in pain for about 3-4 days then woke up one morning and felt fine. My back is sore but I’m not rolled over in pain like I was last week. No more of that please!
Weight gain at 28 weeks: 14 pounds! Not bad :-)
Movement: This baby is a mover and a shaker. I don’t remember Lleyton being near this hyperactive during his time in utero. I feel Baby Hine #2 the most in late afternoon or evening.
Nursery: I ordered the blue crib. I did it! Yes I did! (and I ordered that changing table/dresser from Pottery Barn that I swore I would not…ooops).
I’m currently researching double strollers but that will require a whole separate blog post! The possibilities are endless and I can’t handle all the choices!
We have a little girls name picked out (but shhhhh it’s a secret!). As for a little boy, his name would be “it” or “#2” because we have yet to find one we love. How can I find something as spectacular as Lleyton Paul Hine?
So there ya have it - my pregnancy update! Please forgive my spelling mistakes in this post…apparently computers from the previous decade do not have spell check. Who knew?
I would love to spend thirty minutes on my laptop typing out little stories and share pictures with my readers…but, because I dropped my laptop and shattered the computer screen, all I have is my cell phone to slowly type my blog post on. This does not make for a happy blog writer. So instead I’m crawling into bed with my sugar free cookies (they are sugar free because I didn’t pass my gestational diabetes test) and going to sleep.
Beach Boys
After spending a few days at the beach I learned several things…
1) Lleyton is terrified of water
2) Lleyton LOVES to eat crab
3) I, also, LOVE to eat crab
Last year would have been Lleyton’s first trip to the beach. He was around 7-8 months at the time which is too young to have an opinion about sand and water. This time he was plenty old enough to have an opinion! It took a while to get accustomed to the sand and at one point he even sat down in it to play with his buckets. The ocean water…now that’s a different story. The kid was terrified! David and I were both holding his hands when we finally got him to touch one of his big toes in the water. From the way he was screaming you would have thought we were trying to get him to walk through fire. Lleyton never got adjusted to the ocean on this beach trip but we have another family trip planned for June - maybe that will be his turning point!
As for the crab - he ate enough crab dip and clam chowder to put both David and I to shame. He was nibbling off of my bowl of New England claim chowder and became so frantic over it that I had to quickly order him his own bowl. He fed himself with an adult size spoon (he wanted no help). After polishing off his entire bowl he deemed it time to demolish the crab dip…then he finished off his cheeseburger. Someone has his appetite back!
As for me, I thoroughly enjoyed what was left of Lleyton’s crab dip :-)

Note to self: when baby has missed his nap and been in the car all day do NOT attempt to go out for dinner. TOTAL MELTDOWN!
Other than that everything is great! My test came back negative which means my chances of preterm labor are very very low. My contractions have slowed down (however my back still feels like I have a two ton elephant sitting on it). *this too shall pass.
As for my weekend plans…they involve a wet little baby covered in sunscreen, ocean, sand, Rolaids and clam chowder.
Update
Hey Folks, I’m laid out in bed with major back pain and Braxton Hicks contractions. I’m bored out of my mind and being pampered like a princess.
After a visit with the doctor I was assured that I am not dilating and my cervix has not begun the thinning process. This is good news! I’m only 27 weeks pregnant which is way to early for labor. Doc did a test to make sure I’m not releasing any hormones that signal my body is preparing for labor. I’m still waiting on the call from the hospital in regards to the test but the doctor thinks it’s highly unlikely I’m having birthing contractions.
All I know is that my back hurts and my stomach aches. Currently every inch of my body (including all limbs) are being supported by some sort of pillow. Heating pads and icepacks surround me as I lay and stare at the ceiling. Now would be the perfect time to invest in a TV for the master bedroom.
Please keep me and Baby #2 in your prayers. Our health is the biggest priority right now - however, I would really really really like to go on our upcoming beach trip to Wilmington. What a bummer it would be to have to spend the weekend in bed…with no TV.
